“The most precious gift we can offer anyone is our attention. When mindfulness embraces those we love, they bloom like flowers.” Thich Nhat Hanh
This morning, I did my usual FaceTime with my daughter and granddaughter. (I say usual, but I must say that the time we spend together on the picture phone are my favorite moments in the day!)
I was busy, as I have a new course I’m teaching starting tonight. So, after about 5 minutes, my attention was divided between the most precious people in my world and the computer screen. Soon, my daughter grew impatient and said, “Oh Lilly, Gramma is busy. Always too busy for us.” and she hung up.
Okay.
I took a deep breath and thought, “I talk to them everyday and I will not take it personally. I am always there for them.”
Then I listened to my teacher Steve Chandler share the above quote on a vimeo and it hit me:
Yes, my family is my priority. But with my business taking most of my time right now, my attention is often divided even when we are on the phone.
Today’s goal. To stop everything and embrace those i love with mindfulness, even in the middle of a busy, busy day.
No guilt. Simply awareness.
I can do better.
Recovery is Practice, Practice, Fall Fall.
My job is to learn, breathe, and grow.
Who can you be more mindful with today?
Love,
Bev
