Recovery through love and connection

BALM | February 1, 2025

“In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.
And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back.”

Albert Camus

Dear BALMers,

When I read the first part of the above quote, I yearned to find that invincible summer that would allow me to be peaceful in the midst of situational upset. For me, the journey from teenage angst, through adult depression and onward to growing inner peace amidst the world’s chaos, included many ups and downs.

Recently, I read the second part of the quote about how that invincible summer makes one happy. This idea, that “no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there is something stronger – something better, pushing right back.”

I wrote the BALM program to help families find that stronger inner force that would empower them – and often their loved ones and entire families – to push back against the chaos of addiction and the suffering that co-addiction brings.

Recovery through love and connection is a powerful antidote to the isolation and pandemonium of active addiction. Non-punishing and without judgment, the calming approach of BALM Family Recovery provides families and loved ones with a path forward to a brighter tomorrow. A future based on the inner strength of a spiritual approach based on unconditional love.

Years later, thousands of families around the world are benefiting from the BALM’s loving path and passing it on to their children, families and friends, growing in that imperturbability that Camus’ invincible summer points to.

As you grow in your BALMing, may you find that invincible summer within yourself and find it rippling out to every corner of your life.

Love,
Bev
