Dear BALM® Community and Other Friends,
I’m taking a short break to say hi in the midst of going over the final interior proofs of my upcoming book BALM®: The Loving Path to Family Recovery.
The writing and editing of this book have been a labor of love. For all of you BALMers out there, this book is designed to reinforce the dedicated work you have been doing over the years to be there lovingly for yourself, your struggling loved one, and your family.
For those of you who have not yet begun your BALM® journey, this book can help you do so. In its covers you will find our 12 principles, 7 steps, and 7 c’s, along with charts, exercises, activities and explanations of how to bring them alive in your and your family’s recovery journey.
You may wonder why a loving path is so critical. This book will answer that question along with giving you the details of implementation so you can Be A Loving Mirror, thus being your loved one’s BEST chance at recovery. Of course, working with your BALM® coach as you engage in the BALM® Comprehensive classes will powerfully accelerate what you are learning in the book! As we say, “It takes what it takes!” Perhaps the book will be all you need! At the same time, we are all here to help you if you find you need more help and encouragement along your path!
Recently one of our BALM® parents shared how her three years of BALMing constantly and consistently have given her the words and actions needed, in each moment, to be there for her loved one, thus, bringing increased peace to her family and the next best steps in each situation. Having a peaceful practice encourages peaceful communication, decreases denial, and increases awareness of when a new approach is needed to deal with the challenges our loved one’s malady, and even their issues in recovery, bring to us.
Recovery is a lifelong journey. The loving path of BALM® provides the skills and tools needed to travel it powerfully.
Good to be on the journey with you!
