BALM family members can bring their challenges to the group for coaching and group feedback

While getting coached in the groups is primarily for those who do not have a coach, everyone is welcome to attend and benefit from the powerful BALM® recovery shared and to offer support to those being coached! We can learn a lot from listening to the coaching others receive and applying it to our own situation.

Guest: Dr. Karolyn Surmount

Dr. Karolyn Surmont is a devoted chiropractor, mother of five boys, and passionate advocate for neurologically focused family wellness. Based in Lake Worth, Florida, she operates His Work My Hands Chiropractic, a practice rooted in faith, compassion, and the profound belief that the human body was divinely designed to heal itself.

Dr. Surmont’s journey into chiropractic care began not in a classroom, but in a hospital room—faced with one of the greatest challenges a mother can endure. Years ago, one of her sons suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI), leaving him with devastating symptoms and no clear path to recovery. After years of seeking help from countless doctors—none of whom believed he could fully recover—Karolyn was told her son was a lost cause. Refusing to accept this prognosis, she began searching for answers outside conventional medicine. Her search led her to chiropractic care, a decision that would change not only her son’s life, but her own.

Fueled by fierce maternal love and unshakable faith in God, Karolyn left her home and life in Detroit and enrolled in chiropractic school. Balancing motherhood and medical education, she committed herself to learning how the nervous system governs the body’s ability to function and heal. Through her studies and unwavering determination, she helped her son recover completely from his brain injury—an outcome many had deemed impossible.

Today, Dr. Surmont brings the same determination and empathy to her work in South Florida. At His Work My Hands Chiropractic, she specializes in care for families, children, and expecting mothers, using gentle, neurologically based techniques to address root causes rather than symptoms. Her mission is to restore health and hope to those who may feel they’ve run out of options—just as she once did.

Dr. Surmont is guided by her deep Christian faith and her belief that every individual is created by God with the innate power to heal. Her approach is not only clinical but also spiritual, rooted in the understanding that true wellness comes from within when the body is free from interference and aligned with its Creator’s design.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Surmont is active in her community, hosting educational events, wellness workshops, and faith-based health talks. She aims to empower families with the knowledge and tools to take control of their health naturally and holistically. Her work continues to inspire others, especially mothers, to become advocates for their families and to trust in the body’s God-given potential. From her humble beginnings as a desperate mother seeking healing for her child to a respected chiropractor transforming lives, Dr. Karolyn Surmont’s story is one of faith, resilience, and purpose. Her life and practice stand as a testament to the power of love, learning, and the belief that no one is ever beyond hope.
